We stayed in San Jose the night before our flight left because we had to be at the airport at 4:30 in the morning, and quite frankly the thought of a two-and-a-half hour drive that early in the morning, not to mention before a whole day of flying, wasn't very appealing to me. I was v.e.r.y. (!!!) apprehensive about a hotel stay with Jordan because our last attempt ended in a two hour drive home at one in the morning because the child literally refused to sleep. Enter: Benadryl! They slept like angels, once they finally fell asleep! There's something about sleeping kiddos that absolutely makes my heart melt. I believe that God made them so stinkin' cute while they're sleeping so that at the end of the day when you want to rip your hair out and you swear there was a tantrum thrown at least every hour, you can go in to their bedroom and watch them sleeping. I swear, it wipes away every ounce of frustration that I have.
Not only was this Jo's first hotel stay, it was also his first time sleeping with someone else in the bed with him. :)
I was absolutely terrified at the thought of having not one, but two, first-timers on the flight with me. But, cross-my-heart, they did not cry one single time! We had a short flight to Phoenix, then a flight to Chicago (where we didn't even get off of the plane) and then into Raleigh. The boys' pediatrician advised me to bring gum for CJ, suckers for Jo, and Benadryl for, well let's be honest...for me! Lol! It was CJ's first experience with gum and no matter how hard I tried, the child just doesn't understand it yet. He swallowed each piece I gave him, so we gave up on that fairly quickly. The suckers were an absolute life-saver! Every time Jordan got a little cranky, that precious little Dum Dum saved the day!
CJ could not have been more excited for his first flight!
Our flights went very smoothly, except for one short delay in Phoenix because an arm rest was broken. Really, I'm starting to think that the pilots just wanted an extra little break, but who am I to judge? I probably would to! My dad, step-mom, and Austin picked us up at the airport and took us to get dinner where the boys saw their first lightening bugs! I lived on the East Coast for a few years when I was younger, so I had seen them before, but they are still so neat to watch! When we got to my Dad's the boys knocked out for the night and woke up ready to wreak some havoc on Dranpa's house! :)
How funny, Carson says "Dranpa" and "Drandma"
