So, I was so impressed with the care that I received from Mercy Medical Center during my surgery last week that I wanted to take cookies and a card to the surgical nursing staff. Much (!) easier said than done with two little energy-filled kids that have the sweet tooth of Texas. *Note to self: Stop trying to do things that require your complete attention while the boys are awake! Haven't you learned yet?* Ok, so back to my blog. At first, the boys were more than excited to help make the cookies.
And then they found out that "making cookies" doesn't actually mean "eating as much of the cookie dough as possible before Mommy can even get them in the oven." So, they decided that they wanted to cook by themselves. Their idea of cooking is removing all of my pots and pans from the cabinets and putting them on the couch. Duh! Why didn't I think of that?
I decided that getting the cookies finished was more important than keeping the pots and pans clean and where they belong, so I let them continue on their culinary journey and finished my cookies as quickly as possible because I knew Daddy was on his way home and I can't just move the cookie dough out of his reach like I can the little hands. :)
As if to remind me how excellent the care I received was, my anesthesiologist (yes, the actual doctor!) called to thank me for the cookies and card. I really can't say enough about them!

I adore the pictures of the boys!!! They are too precious! Now make a blog about my surprise party last night!! :)) Haha
ReplyDeleteI LOVE seeing all these every day tasks through this blog..it helps the distance feel a little smaller...the boys are so precious and I LOVE that you let them "cook"...pans can be washed when they are done!!! You're such a great Mom! I love you. I'm also thankful that you had such a wonderful staff of doctors caring for you.
