We Love Weekends!

I'll admit that I am not the best cook. I wouldn't even say that I'm amateur. Truth be told, I can't cook anything without a recipe and have absolutely no creativity or imagination in the kitchen. So, for the last 5 years (this Thursday!) my husband has eaten the same foods over and over again. I'm sorry, babe! But, as a mid-year's resolution I am vowing to make new meals every weekend. And since it's mid-year, I'm expecting to actually follow-through with it, unlike my resolve to lose 20 pounds for the last 3 or so years! So far, I've found some really yummy recipes, but I have to say that this weekend took the prize! I'm loving all of the cooking blogs I have found on here, they're very helpful! On Saturday, this white girl made some amazing homemade chile verde. I got my recipe here.

I don't have a food processor, but my blender did the trick.

This was the cause of my all-day hunger! Smelling this seriously tricked my body into believing it was starving.

Then, on Sunday I made Carl a very proud husband. I pretty sure that one of the criteria for a good wife is that you have to make good wings. I was finally able to check that off this weekend. :) I made t-h-e
b-e-s-t stinkin' Caribbean chicken wings you have ever tasted! I got the recipe here. I also made corn on the cob with Fireman seasoning. I got the recipe for that from the same blog as the chile verde.

Please ignore the half-naked, wet child. He had literally been playing outside in the water all day. I wasn't sure how CJ would do with them because he's never had wings before, but once he saw them, the poor chicken didn't stand a chance! :) And yes, that is sauce on his forehead. Lol!

Last week CJ asked if we could go fishing. Yes, he really is his father's son. So, we took the boys to Yosemite Lake on Saturday.

I have accepted the fact that my son is a complete goofball and it will probably be years before I'm able to get a "normal" picture out of him again.

Jordan was not quite as interested in fishing.

This is the very first picture of me on this blog. Not a great one, but hey, it'll do.

Luke joined us, too.

I am going to mention that I did not dress the boys that day. Who the heck would put two little boys in white shirts for a day at the lake? Yep, my husband would. And yes, their shirts sure do look clean. What you don't know is that before I uploaded the pictures, I re-touched them so that you can't see the melted chocolate and Cheeto cheese smeared across them. :)

And now for a Jordan update. He can now kick himself in the head and is very proud of himself for it. :)
